Try Ascent for Free

Hey everyone, I'm Hamse, and today I'm excited to share an insightful interview with Felix, a successful Amazon FBA seller who”s achieved remarkable results with Ascent Repricer. Let's dive into Felix's journey and how Ascent Repricer transformed his business.

Introduction to Felix's Journey

Felix started selling on Amazon in 2022, primarily focusing on arbitrage-sourced products. He dove headfirst into the business, rapidly scaling up his sales volume to 6 figures  within just six months, driven by reinvesting profits and a passion for the industry.

Challenges with Previous Repricers

Initially, Felix used the Seller Toolkit (STK) repricer but found it lacking in flexibility and intelligence. STK often matched prices too low, resulting in tanking listings and missed profit opportunities. Dissatisfied with his repricing results, Felix eagerly embraced the opportunity to try Ascent Repricer, drawn by its promise of smarter repricing strategies.

Q: “And in terms of your journey with Ascent repricer as well, could you go into what situation you were in terms of your business, how that was doing before you joined Ascent and then talk to us about the numbers you're hitting now that you have joined Ascent?”

A: “So when I first started using a repricer, I was using SellerToolKit repricer, which I believe would probably be the most popular one on the market at the minute. And for a while I was kind of happy with it.

I mean, it was getting inventory shifted, but more and more, I would tend to see it was just matching prices that were just too low. It was tanking listings. I'd be reviewing the data and I'd like to see an item that's just sold for a certain price.

And I just think to myself, like, if I just held that for a week longer, I could have probably got another 30 quid for it or something like that. There were just so many items across the board that I've been noticing this on, and I just thought there must be a better solution.

Then when Gage told me about his plans to develop a repricer, I was all for it. Because the man is a genius. He’s proved it many times with previous stuff that he's come out with. And yeah, I was one of the first people to get testing for Ascent and haven't looked back since.”

Benefits of Ascent Repricer

Felix immediately noticed a significant improvement in his profit margins after switching to Ascent Repricer. By raising prices strategically, he saw sales above the buy box and increased profits on multiple listings. With Ascent's automated cost of goods feature and intelligent repricing algorithms, Felix saved valuable time and achieved tangible results, including a 3% increase in overall margins.

Q: ”Amazing. And in terms of the output of using ascent, where would you say you are in terms of revenue before and now? And in terms of how much your RoI has increased in terms of like a tangible result?”

A: “Yeah. So my revenue is increasing each month just from me scaling the business myself. But I've more seen the difference when it comes to the actual margin on those products. So just on so many different listings, it's raising the price above the buy box. I'm making sales above the buy box. There's multiple times I'll see stuff being sold for up to 30, 40 quid higher than what I normally would be selling at if I was using another repricer, where it's just matching the buy box without consideration, I'd say my overall margins increased by 3%, which may not sound like much to some, but when you're doing like one hundred K sales in a month, it makes a huge difference to your profit margins, to your actual.”

The Ease of Onboarding and Learning Curve

Transitioning to Ascent Repricer was seamless for Felix. Unlike other repricers that required manual setup and data entry, Ascent automatically pulled cost of goods information and handled repricing intelligently with preset rules. This simplicity allowed Felix to focus on sourcing products and growing his business without the hassle of micromanaging repricing strategies.

Q: ”Yeah, absolutely. And it does definitely make a massive difference. So all the power to you, and I'd say what we could sort of go on from there is just more. So your experience when first signing up to ascent, what was the onboarding process like and how did you find.”

A: ”I mean, it was really simple. You just make an account, I think you sign up through what, and then connect your Amazon seller account and it kind of just takes care of the rest. For instance, with STK you have to manually enter all of your cost of goods for stock, which if you've got thousands of items, could take a long time and always outsource it to someone else.

But then it's still costing you money just to set up new software. It's just a bit stupid if you ask me. With Ascent, it automatically pulls my cost of goods for all of my items just from my SKU. So there's literally nothing you have to do. No uploading cost of goods, no worries about it getting stuff wrong, it just knows how much all you're paying for all this stuff.

As for the actual repricing rules, there's just a few preset rules. You got a bit of flexibility in it, but it handles all of the intelligence to repricing itself. With STK it gives you so many different options and it just means that most people are just going to match the lowest price tank listings and not really know what they're doing. But ascent just does the smart thing. It's a smart choice, really?”

Ease of Use and Overall Effectiveness

Q: ”And that's really great to hear. And so obviously going into how simple it obviously is to use, could you then also talk about how you were sort of able to realize that sort of output with increasing your margins through ascent? In terms of what actual features would you say helped you out the most that were the most notable in your experience?”

A: ”Yeah. So just the buy box overview of how much you're winning. The buy box, you can see an increase over time after using it. It's also got a feature where it shows you all the listings where it's recently increased the price on, which is really great. Just recently as well, they've added a feature where you can actually see the actual additional profit that ascent has made you from raising prices on listings, which is crazy, it's hard to visualize that sort of data. But in the last 30 days I think I've made another 1.4 thousand pounds just from using ascent. So if I was using STK, I'd essentially be losing 1.4k in the past month just from tanking listings and just across the board, it just makes you some more money. It really just pays for itself.

Exactly. So you were easily able to sort of three x or even 30 x your sort of return on investment pretty much. So within a month, after a few weeks of using ascent, you're already able to pay off what you used to pay for it. Right.

85 pounds a month off top of my head, 1.4k in a single month. I'm not too good with mental maths, but I know that's quite a lot of months of subscription. Yeah, I really can't fault it.”

Problems with STK and How Ascent Solved Them

Q: ”And that's super great to hear. And also, when you were using STK, could you sort of go into, I guess, the core issue that you had with it and then go into how Ascent sort of solved that issue?.”

A: ”Yeah. So STK, just the main thing that I just dislike about it is it doesn't really do anything else except just match the lowest price on the listing, which if you know anything about how Amazon works, you can make sales without matching the lowest price. All matching the lowest price does is just lead to tanking of the listings, which, especially if you're an arbitrage seller, where there's a lot of competition on some listings, it's just going to ruin your business, really. You're just going to be breaking even and not really making any money. So I identified this issue before Ascent was even a thing, and I heard stuff about Sellersnap, which is a reprice that some people might have heard of. It costs like 500 pounds a month and claims to do what a scent does, essentially.

And I tried out for a month or so and it just didn't really do much. It was similar to STK. I didn't really see any great increase in sales or profit or like a difference in the margin. I just overall was pretty underwhelmed and I very quickly just went back to STK because I'm not paying a stupid subscription like that to see no results. And then, yeah, by the time the scent came around, I tried that out. It was basically exactly what I thought Celestap was supposed to be, but for more of the price, it's a no brainer.”

Comparison with Other Repricers

Having tried other repricers like Sellersnap, Felix found Ascent to be the superior choice in terms of functionality and affordability. While other repricers fell short in delivering tangible results, Ascent's intuitive interface and effective repricing algorithms consistently generated additional profits for Felix.

Final Thoughts and Recommendations

In conclusion, Felix recommends Ascent Repricer to other Amazon sellers. The platform's simplicity, effectiveness, and ability to deliver tangible results make it a valuable asset for any FBA business. Felix encourages sellers to try Ascent Repricer and experience the difference it can make in optimizing profit margins and streamlining operations.

Q: ”And then finally, in terms of the last topic I guess we could sort of go into for this quick interview is pretty much just a sort of roundup in terms of the main benefits you've gotten. So if you would sort of list the five main benefits that you got using ascent as compared to beforehand, what would you say they are? And what are these five reasons that someone should actually join ascent?”

A: ”I mean time is money for one. So any time that you're spent filling in spreadsheets, manually adding costs, trying to worry about your repricing rules, having to audit your listings because you're not really confident in your repricers work, all of that sort of stuff, it's just detracting from actually what you should be doing, which is sourcing products and selling products and making money.

So yeah, the amount of time it saves me is great with the auto cost of goods feature. Secondly, obviously would be the additional profit. I mean who wouldn't want an extra like 1000 pounds a month for whatever just from using different piece of software? It's hard to think of five really, because it's a simple piece of software. Yeah, that's kind of the point of it.

You don't want something that's really overcomplicated and has all this stuff you got to worry about. You just want to turn it on and it just does its job and it does it right and it just makes you more money. And that's exactly what.”
